What does it mean to be in Christ?

What does it mean to be in Christ?

Copied and pasted from https://www.gotquestions.org/in-Christ.html

Galatians 3:26-28 gives us insight into the phrase “in Christ” and what it means. "In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Paul is speaking to the Christians in Galatia, reminding them of their new identity since they placed their faith in Jesus Christ. To be "baptized into Christ" means that they were identified with Christ, having left their old sinful lives and fully embracing the new life in Christ (Mark 8:34Luke 9:23). When we respond to the Holy Spirit’s drawing, He "baptizes" us into the family of God. First Corinthians 12:13 says, "For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink."

Several places in Scripture refer to the believer’s being "in Christ" (1 Peter 5:14Philippians 1:1Romans 8:1). Colossians 3:3 says, "For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." God is perfect justice. He cannot simply overlook or excuse our sin; that would not be just. Sin had to be paid for. All the wrath God holds toward evil was poured out on His own Son. When Jesus took our place on the cross, He suffered the punishment our sin deserves. His last words before He died were, "It is finished" (John 19:30). What was finished? Not merely His earthly life. As He proved three days later, that was not finished (Matthew 28:7Mark 16:61 Corinthians 15:6). What He finished on the cross was God’s plan to redeem His fallen world. When Jesus said, "It is finished," He was stating that He had successfully paid in full for every act of rebellion, past, present, and future.

To be "in Christ" means we have accepted His sacrifice as payment for our own sin. Our rap sheets contain every sinful thought, attitude or action we have ever committed. No amount of self-cleansing can make us pure enough to warrant forgiveness and a relationship with a holy God (Romans 3:10-12). The Bible says that in our natural sinful state we are enemies of God (Romans 5:10). When we accept His sacrifice on our behalf, He switches accounts with us. He exchanges our list of sins for His perfect account that is totally pleasing to God (2 Corinthians 5:21). A Divine Exchange takes place at the foot of the cross: our old sin nature for His perfect one (2 Corinthians 5:17).

To enter the presence of a holy God, we must be hidden in the righteousness of Christ. To be "in Christ" means that God no longer sees our imperfections; He sees the righteousness of His own Son (Ephesians 2:13Hebrews 8:12). Only "in Christ" is our sin debt cancelled, our relationship with God restored, and our eternity secured (John 3:16-1820:31).

How bloody was the death of Christ?

Thoughts on the graphic details of the scourging and death of Jesus

When we touch the cross, we put our finger on the pulse of the universe. We touch something that is warm, alive and vital. Yet it is also holy, arguably the holiest ground of all. With that in mind, I invite us to take off our sandals and approach the cross with reverence and humility.

In an effort to help us appreciate the suffering Jesus endured in saving us, people sometimes do what the writers of the New Testament don’t do – they go into extremely graphic details about the scourging and crucifixion of Christ. The purpose of such elaboration is almost always to show that Jesus was severely beaten to the point of being near death before He was finally nailed to the cross. As I said, the intent in all of this is noble but the question we need to ask is, “Is this an accurate portrayal of the crucifixion?”

Consider the following lines of evidence:

None of the New Testament writers go into explicit detail concerning the suffering of Jesus prior to the crucifixion. He is flogged and beaten and a crown of thorns is placed on His head. Certainly this is extremely painful and while we know that sometimes people were horrendously beaten prior to crucifixion, we don’t know that this is the case with Jesus.

We do know that when Joseph of Arimathea goes to Pilate to ask for Jesus’ body, Pilate is surprised to hear He is dead so soon (Mark 15:44). This is significant because if Pilate didn’t personally witness the flogging of Jesus he at least sees Jesus soon afterwards (John 19:1ff). If Jesus is near death after His flogging, then Pilate shouldn’t be surprised that His death happens so quickly.

Jesus dies after just six hours on the cross (Mark 15:25,33-37). Death on a cross can take hours or days depending on the manner in which a person is crucified (i.e., how their body is positioned on the cross and whether they can breathe in that position), their general health, and the severity of the flogging they receive prior to being crucified. Death is due to a combination of fatigue, exposure and asphyxiation but rarely, if ever, the loss of blood.

The two thieves who are crucified with Jesus also provide us with some insight into the nature of Jesus’ crucifixion. We have no reason to believe that Jesus is crucified in a manner different than they are. Yet after approximately nine hours they are still alive and must have their legs broken to speed their deaths so their bodies can be taken off the cross before the start of the Sabbath. Why then does this not have to also be done with Jesus?

Though He dies the death of a common criminal by being crucified on a cross, there is nothing common about Jesus’ death. The gospels zero in on this uniqueness:

Matthew writes “when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit,” (Matthew 27:50).

Luke records, “Jesus called out in a loud voice, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit,’” (Luke 23:46).

Mark tells us of the centurion’s reaction to watching Jesus die. “ … when the centurion . . . heard His cry and saw how He died, he said, ‘Surely, this man was the Son of God!’” (15:39).

John’s account is even more pointed, “Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit,” (19:30).

These passages point out two important and overlooked aspects in regard to the death of Jesus. First of all, they indicate that Jesus is both conscious and in command at the time of His death. He isn’t unconscious or slowly drifting away. He calls out in a loud voice, He bows His head, He gives up His spirit. These are the actions of someone who is control.

Of greater importance is that Jesus gives up His spirit. We need to carefully consider this because it is a point of emphasis in all four accounts. Not only is His life not taken from Him, He chooses the moment in which it will be given. Jesus is strong, in control, and chooses the moment of His departure. What is the significance of this?

In John 10:17-18 Jesus says:

“The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.’”

Jesus claims in this passage to have control over both His life and His death. No one, He says, can take His life. A cursory look at John’s gospel reveals numerous occasions when the opponents of Jesus seek to take His life (5:18,7:1,19,25,8:37,40,11:47-53). Their attempts are all unsuccessful. Why? The answer is simple: Jesus is unwilling to give His life up on any of those occasions and since He alone has the power to lay His life down, His death isn’t going to happen apart from His choosing.

At Golgotha, in accordance with His Father’s will, Christ chooses to give His life where He pays the price for our sins (Jn. 19:30). Yet even at the cross, He is in total control and chooses the moment of His death. This is what impresses the centurion who has undoubtedly witnessed many deaths from crucifixion. Anyone suffering the torturous death of crucifixion would wish for such power but only Jesus possesses it. This is why the centurion says, “Surely, this man was the Son of God,” (Mark 15:39).

Jesus’ ability to choose the moment of His departure from this world is a fulfillment of His claim and a clear sign of His deity. We need to treat it as such. The portrait of a barely conscious Jesus bleeding out on the cross undermines this claim. Similarly, it is misguided to look for the suffering of Jesus primarily in the physical aspects of the crucifixion. Not only do the writers of the gospels not emphasize this but a careful sifting of their testimony will cultivate the recognition and appreciation that the ultimate suffering of the cross was not physical but spiritual. The greatest anguish Jesus experiences is when He suffers what He has never known from all eternity – separation from His Father (Matt. 27:46). The land is shrouded in darkness as God makes “Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God,” (2 Cor. 5:21). This is the death He tastes for us (Heb. 2:9), for although we will all experience physical death one day when our spirit separates from our body, we will not be separated from God because Jesus took our place in His suffering on the cross.

In conclusion, while the physical aspects of the cross should never be ignored or minimized, neither should they be embellished or presented as the most significant aspect of the crucifixion. History is full of people who gave their physical lives for others but knows only One who was separated from God on behalf of all others. That is what makes the cross the nexus of history. May we always treat it that way.

We serve a wonderful savior, a wonderful redeemer. His name is Jesus. And to him

0:15

be the glory and honor and praise. And God's people said, "Amen." And amen. You

0:23

know, I've just been sitting here just singing some beautiful songs from the

0:29

70s. Oh, the Lord is so good. And my

0:34

beautiful daughter, Natasha, sitting right there again. Can't see her tonight. She's just sitting wanting to

0:41

listen to the word of the Lord. And I want to talk to you about how to walk in the spirit in these troublesome times.

0:49

And I believe God is going to show you some wonderful things today to bless you. And Lord, I thank you for your

0:55

blessed word. Oh precious Jesus, to you belongs the glory and the honor and the

1:01

praise. Open our hearts, Lord, and reveal your precious word to us today.

1:07

Blessed Lord, we give you the praise. And God's people said, "Amen." And remember, we're very close to the coming

1:14

of the Lord. You know, how does this really work out?

1:19

I'm looking at you. I'm looking at T at the same time. How does it work out to live in the spirit

1:27

in troublesome times? You want to say hello so they can hear you? Hi. Yeah.

1:33

Anyway, Lucas is here because he's taping us, you know, so he's laughing, too. You

1:40

know, uh, the minute and and I want you sweet young people together, too.

1:48

The minute you step out of the old life

1:54

and walk into the new life in Jesus, you walk into a life of no limits.

2:02

Now, you know what I mean by no limits? Like like no limitations. Like your past

2:11

is gone. no past record.

2:18

Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are new. And a lot of

2:24

people don't get that. Like they say, well, what does that really mean? Well, it it really means what what it says.

2:34

Katherine Khman was in her

2:39

let's see she began in the ministry when she was 16 when she was young she married a man

2:47

Mr. Walrip was his name. Then she divorced him. Her ministry almost fell

2:54

apart. She was just a young lady in her 20s somewhere.

3:01

And she repented. She came to a dead end road like a real

3:06

dead end road. It would say dead end. And she repented.

3:14

And the Lord said something powerful to her when she repented

3:19

because she divorced him and you know and gave her life to the Lord completely

3:24

surrendered completely to the Lord because that marriage should have never happened in the first place anyways and

3:31

long story but I'm only giving you the headline. And the Lord said to us something

3:37

amazing. He said in my books it never happened.

3:44

Now God did not say I cannot remember. He said I will not

3:50

remember. He made a decision. I will not remember your sins any longer.

3:59

What a loving God to say that. I will not remember. Once you repent, once you

4:06

come to Jesus, once you come out of the old life into the new one, or even after

4:11

you're in the new life and you're young like she was, and you make a mistake,

4:19

you know, we all have made mistakes. Who hasn't? And you go to the Lord and you

4:25

make it right with him. He will forgive and he will forget.

4:33

It's his word. And so we have now to begin living that

4:38

kind of life to believe that God really has forgotten.

4:44

He said, "I will not remember your sins anymore." And the longer you live, the more you

4:51

understand his love and mercy and forgiveness

4:56

and patience with all of us. Living in the spirit is a beautiful way to live

5:05

because we we are in liberty.

5:11

Satan comes to remind people about their past.

5:18

God always points us to the future. Old things are passed away.

5:26

Behold, all things are new. Think about Paul the Apostle, what he did before his salvation.

5:34

Think about any of the saints. Even after

5:40

Jesus called Peter, he denied him. What did Jesus say to Peter

5:48

after the resurrection? He didn't say, "Ah, you bad man. You

5:55

denied me." He said, "Do you love me?" First question, do you love me? He did

6:00

not even rebuke him for denying him. He just asked him a question and it broke

6:07

him. Do you love me? Wow. What a Lord. What a Lord.

6:14

So the Lord we serve is love. Oh yes.

6:20

You know if we do not repent, if we do not have a repentant heart, we will be punished. Absolutely.

6:27

But if we know how to repent, God will always forgive us and make it right with

6:32

us because we made it right with him. Now,

6:39

limitations known in the old life disappear

6:46

once you begin living in the spirit. You also see the world differently. Not only

6:51

is you're in in a new life now. No past

6:56

record. Now it's a beginning. It's a beautiful

7:02

new life you have. But also you see the world differently. Example, here's Moses

7:07

standing looking at the Red Sea.

7:13

But did he really see the Red Sea?

7:19

Pharaoh's army was behind them

7:26

in the natural. They were trapped when Israel left Egypt.

7:31

God led them led them right to the edge of the Red Sea knowing he will divide

7:37

the Red Sea. But Israel did not know. They were not

7:43

living in the spirit. So now imagine if this was you and here you are, the sea before you, the enemies

7:53

behind you, as you can see in the natural, no way out.

7:59

What did Moses see? He saw the Lord. And when he saw the Lord, and I repeat,

8:07

he saw the Lord. He didn't just see nothing. He saw the Lord. What did he

8:13

say? feared doubt and as a result God

8:21

brought forth a miracle and that's in in the scriptures

8:26

and that's why I think Paul said something amazing to us quite remarkable

8:31

really when he said in 1 Corinthians 3:21 therefore let no man glory in men

8:38

for all things are yours whether Paul or Apollos or Cphus or the

8:45

world or life or death or things present or things to come. All are yours. No

8:52

limit what God will give you. And ye are Christs and Christ is God's.

8:58

That's these three verses are most amazing.

9:04

But very few think about that. Don't glory in men. All things are

9:11

yours. All things are yours. I think you you need to begin to say all things are

9:17

mine. As a believer, whether Paul or Apollos or Casus or the world, think

9:23

about he says the world is yours or life or death or things present or things to

9:33

come. All are yours. Now wait.

9:39

death and life. He says things present or things to

9:45

come. All all are mine. There's no limit.

9:52

And I know it's it's a mystery. Like what does it really mean?

9:59

Well, when you live in the spirit, you are in that world of no limitations.

10:09

You know, unbelief relies on feelings.

10:14

Faith relies on the promises of God. Moses did not see the ocean. He saw the

10:22

Lord. Israel saw the ocean and the Egyptians

10:27

behind them. Moses did not see the Egyptians or the ocean. He saw the Lord.

10:33

He only saw the Lord. And that is so powerful and you can read that for yourself in Exodus

10:40

14 verse 15 right through 21.

10:46

And you know to to to human logic feelings and all that

10:53

it makes no sense. Like how can you ignore the ocean and the and the and the Egyptians behind you

11:00

and say we're going to come through. God will divide the ocean.

11:06

I mean, you know, in the natural to go forward you would drown. To go backwards

11:12

that kill you. But not when you're in the spirit.

11:18

What did Moses walk on then? Wait, wait. I want you to think about

11:24

that. What did he walk on?

11:29

This is very key. He did not walk on dry land when he

11:35

walked through that ocean. He walked on the word of God.

11:41

He walked on the word of God. What did Peter walk on on that Sea of

11:48

Galilee? On the word come.

11:53

On the word come. He didn't walk on the water. He walked on the word that Jesus spoke.

12:02

People forget that. And then when his eye when when the wind blew and his eyes were taken off the Lord, he begin to

12:08

drown. And now the Lord had told him up. We do not walk on the natural. We walk

12:16

on the word of faith. We walk on the word of God.

12:22

We see what he said and we go forward. And God said, "Lift the rod.

12:30

Walk." And the the whole nation followed him.

12:38

I think about the spies who went into the promised land to spy the land.

12:46

10 of them saw giants and two of them saw the Lord.

12:52

Then said, "There's giants in the land. No way. we we we we we can't win. And

12:58

they said it they they they made a a a a very remarkable statement because in the

13:06

book of Numbers, let's go there, chapter 13.

13:11

And in verse 25, and after they they returned from

13:18

searching the land, they they made a very like uh

13:26

shocking statement. It says they brought up an evil report in verse 32

13:33

and they talk about how these giants were so massive. And then they said something in verse 33 that is so so

13:40

important. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anoch, which come of the giants. And we

13:47

were in our own sight as grasshoppers. And so were we in their sight. The way

13:55

you see yourself is the way the devil sees you.

14:01

The way you see yourself is the way the enemy sees you. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers. And so were we in their

14:08

side. The minute you see yourself as God sees

14:13

you, you win. But the minute you see yourself as the

14:18

enemy sees you, you lose. You have got to change your vision.

14:26

What did God do with Abraham when he began to question? He said, "Come on, count the stars. Change your vision."

14:33

Because he said, "What will you give me?" He's sitting in his tent in Genesis. What will you give me seeing?

14:41

Seeing I go childless. He was seeing nothing.

14:48

He was asking God, you know, all I have is, you know, Eleazar for an air. Read

14:54

it there in Genesis 15. What will you give me

14:59

seeing I'm childless? and he's thinking, you know, Elaz is

15:06

going to take all his wealth and go with it. God said, "No, come

15:12

let's look at the stars together. Look at look at the count the stars, Abraham."

15:18

And and then God changed the sight, changed his vision.

15:24

You've got to start seeing, right? Faith can be seen.

15:33

Jesus seeing their faith, seeing their faith. Remember that story when they

15:38

brought that man through the roof said he saw their faith.

15:44

They acted seek their faith. He says to the man, "Arise."

15:50

We've got to change what we see. Walking in the spirit will change the

15:57

way you see yourself.

16:03

All right. David in Psalm 23:4

16:11

said something quite quite remarkable. Now, you know, I mean, you've got to

16:16

think about this when when I give you these scriptures. And by the way, keep me, you know, aware of the time so I

16:22

don't keep going. And frankly, if I do, I think people need it anyways a little bit now. Psalm 23:4.

16:30

Let me just read it together with you. Yay, though I walk, Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of

16:36

death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Now wait, hold it.

16:43

The valley of the shadow of death is a very terrifying reality.

16:51

But he said, Lord, your reality is greater.

16:59

The valley of death is a great reality and a terrifying

17:05

reality. But God's reality is greater than the

17:10

valley of the shadow of death. You don't see the shadow of death. You don't see

17:16

the valley of the shadow of death. You see the Lord whose reality is greater.

17:25

You know why I I in the crusades and to this day I love leading people in worship because worship

17:32

helps them to see Jesus not their disease.

17:39

The moment people see the Lord they forget their disease.

17:45

And when they forget their disease he heals them.

17:51

As long as they're focused on the sickness, no healing will come. When they start begging, "Oh Lord, heal me,

17:57

heal me." They're focused on their disease. They're not focused on the Lord, the healer. When they see Jesus,

18:04

they're healed. In his presence, in his presence means

18:10

you see him. In his presence, no sickness will dwell.

18:19

You come to that place of reality where he becomes more real to you than

18:27

the crowds around you. He becomes more real to you than yourself.

18:35

When the presence of Jesus becomes real to me on those platforms

18:40

and that's when I rebuke sickness, that's when they get healed because he's real to me now.

18:47

And that's when I sing hallelujah. We are there. By the time we sing al

18:53

hallelujah, I'm already there. Sometimes I'll worship for a while

18:58

lately because of the Lord's presence coming so quickly. I I just walked on

19:04

the platform in Uganda and Zimbabwe and he was already on the platform. So there

19:09

wasn't much waiting. But in the crusades and still in some meetings, you have to

19:14

lead people. You have to to prepare them to come into God's presence.

19:20

Jack Hayer told me something powerful. He said, "You don't have a healing ministry.

19:26

You have a ministry to that brings people into the presence of the Lord." That's what he said to me. He He said,

19:32

"People are not healed in your meetings because you give you have the gift of healing." I said, "Well, I've never said

19:38

I have the gift of healing." He said they get healed because you bring them into the presence of the Lord.

19:47

When they come into the presence of the Lord, they're healed. Or Roberts used to lay hands on the sick

19:55

and others like him before and after. Miss Kumman did not lay hands on the sick. She let people into the presence

20:02

of God. And sometimes she would have she would

20:09

sing with the wrong key and nobody cared because God's presence was there. I've

20:14

heard her sing when her voice would crack and break. It didn't matter to us. We were all weeping because Jesus is

20:21

there. It's all about the presence of the Lord.

20:28

So we live in this amazing reality. But

20:33

what what do we do to have it this life in the spirit?

20:41

Well, Paul gives us an amazing truth in Romans 13:14. He says, "Put on the Lord

20:50

Jesus Christ. Put on the Lord.

20:55

Wear him." These are amazing words.

21:01

Romans 13:14, "And put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for

21:08

the flesh. You cancel the flesh.

21:13

You cancel the lust of the flesh." It says, "Make not provision for the flesh

21:20

to fulfill the lusts thereof." You You're free from it. Now, how you

21:27

put the Lord on. How do you do that? Surrender.

21:34

You see him. What did David do? He surrendered. What did Moses do? Surrender. What did Caleb and Joshua do?

21:40

Surrender. They didn't see those giants. They saw the Lord and they surrendered and saw

21:46

the Lord. Moses surrendered to the Lord. He walked on his word.

21:53

He He didn't walk through the Red Sea. He walked on the word of God on the sea divided and those giants.

22:01

Did Caleb see him? No. Did Joshua see him? No. He saw the word.

22:06

The giants disappeared. And David saw the Lord. He saw his word.

22:14

He said, "Thou art with me. Thou for thou art with me. I I see you,

22:20

Lord. I don't see the valley. And because I see you, I don't see the valley.

22:26

And Paul tells us something powerful. Put on Christ

22:32

and the flesh will go away.

22:37

So here's the here's what what will cause

22:44

people difficulties

22:50

if you don't avoid the places. People sometimes go into places that

22:56

trigger the flesh. If you go into a place that triggers the

23:02

the flesh, you lose sight of the Lord. You you lose sight of the the the

23:09

invisible. Do not go anywhere that triggers the flesh.

23:16

Avoid the places that trigger the flesh and what the flesh craves

23:24

because this is not who you are anymore.

23:29

This is not who you are anymore. Old things are passed away. This is not who you are anymore.

23:37

You don't need it. You don't want it.

23:43

I You do not need the flesh. You don't want the flesh.

23:51

You want the life of the spirit. You are a man of the spirit. You're a woman of the spirit. Our life is alive in the

23:59

spirit. Everything we are, everything we do is

24:04

is of the spirit. We don't Jesus said, "You're in but not of the world." Why? In the spirit.

24:14

And so Paul makes it very clear.

24:20

Let's go to Ephesians. And I'll go just a little over today just for a few minutes because I think this is so

24:26

important. I want to I want to give you the the secret. I want to give you what to do. How do you walk in the spirit in

24:33

these troublesome times? So in in Ephesians 4, if you look at

24:40

verse, let's just go to verse 22. I hope you're learning on it.

24:45

It says that you put off concerning the former conversation or conduct the old

24:51

man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust. So it's it's our

24:56

decision to say no to the flesh and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. How?

25:01

Through the word. I've been saying it over and over and over and over again.

25:07

And through the word that renews your mind spirit spiritually the spirit of

25:13

your mind. It says now you can put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and through holiness.

25:22

So a radical change begins to take place in your life

25:29

and you begin to do something that is incredible.

25:34

The next thing he says in Ephesians 5

25:40

verse one, he said, "Begin to imitate God as dear children."

25:47

How do you imitate God? Well, he he just told you how in chapter 4.

25:55

He said, "Get the flesh off and walk in the spirit."

26:00

And then he said, "Be," and cannot remember there were no no chapters when he wrote this.

26:06

So you go on reading, "Be ye therefore." Ephesians 5:1, "Be therefore followers

26:13

of God as dear children." Imitate God as dear children. Why?

26:19

Because we've received his life. Now we draw from that life from within.

26:29

We draw from within, not without.

26:35

His life is in us and we draw from within. We look within.

26:44

I read a profound book by Jin years ago

26:50

and she talked about how we have to look within in prayer.

26:55

Look within means you look within the spirit. You walk

27:02

by living the life that puts the world out and is living that spiritual life.

27:12

And so what he says here is imitate God and now you have his life. Draw from it.

27:23

draw from, imitate him. You draw from his life that is within

27:30

you. And by doing that, you become his children.

27:36

You missed it. You missed it, too. And I think you missed it, too.

27:41

By drawing from his life,

27:47

you're able to follow him as children. You can't follow

27:52

without that because you've received

27:59

uh God's eternal life. You're joined to him in covenant.

28:07

Listen to me. You we we we are walking

28:12

it out from the spirit within.

28:22

every every day you have to walk out from what is within,

28:31

not the other way around. And you find that in quietness.

28:39

In quietness, you're able to bring out

28:45

what is in you. Otherwise, you can't do it.

28:52

And finally when you do that something happens

28:59

the flesh must be weakened and starved.

29:07

And once the flesh is weakened and starved

29:12

only then can the life of God flow flow out.

29:18

So in 2 Corinthians 12

29:24

uh verse 10 he said I take pleasure in infirmities in reproach in necessities

29:31

in persecutions in distress for Christ's sake for when I

29:37

am weak. When I am weak then am I strong.

29:48

You you have to bring the flesh to a place of total starvation and weakness.

29:54

So he said, "I rejoice in in in infirmities because that that's

30:00

weakness. Reproach is weakness. Necessities and persecutions are weaknesses, distress. Because now in my

30:08

weakness, I find his strength.

30:13

I draw from within. I draw from within.

30:18

I hope this is helping you. And sometimes trials come our way

30:26

because God wants us to draw from within. Sometimes he allows them to come so we

30:34

can start looking within ourselves.

30:40

And this is so important. The minute you see the reality of what

30:47

I'm talking to you about and what the Bible teaches, you begin to see trials

30:52

as an opportunity to draw on the Lord to to to draw to

31:01

draw and to grow

31:07

because I think trials are the opportunities of the Holy Spirit.

31:12

to produce the life of Jesus in in your life of mouth. And that's why the Lord said, "Ye shall have tri tribulation in

31:18

this world, but rejoice. I've overcome the world. All who live godly will suffer." Why?

31:25

Because we go within immediately and we become stronger. So the minute the minute trials come,

31:32

there are opportunities that the Holy Spirit would use to bring

31:39

forth the life of Jesus out.

31:47

I think I've said enough and I pray the Lord today would use

31:53

that. And one final advice,

31:58

walking in the spirit will cause you to also do this. Colossians 3 1 through

32:05

verse three. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above.

32:10

That's what happened. By living in the spirit, you start looking above.

32:16

God, how I love this. Well, Christ siteth on the right hand of God. Set

32:21

your affections. your affection or mind here in Greek on

32:28

things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead

32:33

and your life is hid with Christ. Man, this is such a powerful verse. You are

32:40

dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.

32:46

You are dead and your life is hid with

32:51

Jesus in God. say my life is hid with Jesus and God

33:00

that's within. There's a hiding place within. Withdraw

33:05

from that life within. So when troubles come, don't look

33:12

outward, look inward. And when you look inward, look for Jesus

33:20

and you'll find him. And you'll draw the strength out.

33:27

Out of your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water out of your

33:34

innermost being. And you find that tranquility as you wait upon the Lord and renew your

33:42

strength. It's time you do that. If you're troubled today, I have a

33:50

wonderful piece of counsel for you. Wait upon the Lord. He will renew your

33:56

strength. You'll mount up as wings as with wings of eagles. You'll run and not be weary.

34:03

You'll walk and not faint. But you need the word of God to ignite all that in you.

34:09

You see, I read my Bible and my and the word of God settles my spirit and

34:16

settles my soul and I'm able to enter into this

34:21

quietness of spirit.

34:26

And yes, shut your phone off. Shut it off. Put it on plane mode or

34:32

just shut it off. Don't let any any anybody call you while you're just in

34:39

the presence of Jesus. Now, now uh uh this is this is key.

34:44

Don't look for feelings. Look look for depth. Look for depth.

34:51

And you won't understand what I mean till you're there. Spiritual depth is is not a feeling.

35:00

It's the deep that calls onto deep. It's like oneness, union with the Lord that

35:06

is not emotional. There's no emotions with it. The problem

35:11

today is people look for emotional experience and they get in chaotic trouble. No, no. Jesus is in the

35:18

stillness. He's found in the stillness. Be still and know. Be still and know I'm

35:26

the Lord. He said, be still and know I'm the Lord. Do it today.

35:31

But you cannot find stillness till you open your Bible and you read the

35:36

precious word of God and you say, "Wonderful Jesus,

35:41

show me your face today again. Show me your beauty again today, Lord.

35:47

Oh sweet Holy Spirit, show me Jesus. Reveal to me the son of God." and you

35:54

open your pipeline and next thing you know as you're reading oh the peace of God that will settle deep in your soul

36:02

and then you start looking within and sometimes communion erupts within you

36:08

deep communion not words not me mental words deep communion

36:15

of love words of love now you speak to him words of love and

36:23

you cherish him with your love and you just adore him and you thank him

36:33

and it's there's no requests of selfish needs here.

36:40

There's no prayer list of I need this ABCD FG. It's all about him, not you.

36:46

It's all about him, not you. There's nothing to do with needing things from

36:51

the outside. Now Jesus is all in all. And then you walk out

36:57

and you think this is heaven. No, it's a taste of

37:02

heaven. Imagine all this is just a taste. Think

37:08

what the Lord's glory and heaven would be like. Wow. Lord, bring them into that

37:14

place of rest. There is a place of quiet rest. That

37:22

song said near to the heart of God, a place where sin cannot moles.

37:30

Near to the heart of God. Bring them near to your heart, Lord.

37:37

Bring them near to your heart, dear Jesus. Let them experience that life in

37:42

the spirit so they won't they won't be affected by the troublesome times we're

37:48

we're in. that nothing will affect them spiritually. They'll know your peace that passeth all

37:55

understanding and your presence that will give them great joy. Give you all the glory.

38:03

And God's sweet people said, "Amen and amen. Thank you for being with me." I'm loving this. I I just love talking to

38:09

you about the Lord and his word. And I'm in California. I'll be going back to to Florida uh

38:17

Thursday. So, I'll be back Friday, but we we take uh you know, a late flight,

38:24

but then Friday, I'll I'll probably have to rest. I don't know if I can uh tape

38:31

on Thursday. I'll try. I'll try. I may have to do it from the airport, but you know, with all the noise, I don't know that I can. But, I'm here now and I'll

38:39

be with you again tomorrow. I'll be with you again tomorrow. And please share, you know, share these with people. Share
