My Review of "The Wood - The Life and Times of Cockshutt Wood" By John Lewis-Stempel finished reading 7 Dec 2019
I enjoyed this book ... the author used some good and imaginative descripitive words for various elements of Woods and the English countryside and the fauna and flora therein.
Learnt some new things about woodland eg .Xylophile is the correct word for a lover of woodlands.
I tried looking for Cockshutt Woods on Google Maps but couldnt find one in South west Herefordshire, the nearest being in Shropshire .Some of the nearby places he mentioned in book are however found on Google Maps eg Ewyas Harold Common on Pg 13
On Pg 261 He listed some beetles which I thought might be interesting to look at in more detail and get photos Limoniscus violaceus , Ampedus nigerrimus, Elater ferrugineus, Eucnemis capucina , Dryophthorus corticalis
