16 aug 2025 I found the solution to eating scad which are full of little bones and difficult to eat. But loads are being caught at moment in Penzance, I caught a few Thursday . After gutting them I boiled them in an inch or two of water with a bit of olive oil. Then mushed them up in saucepan, added lemon juice, pepper and Mediterranean herbs. Then after simmering I sieved it , squeezed all the juice out of the fish. Then added to the juice some (pickled) mussels, chopped salami and smoked cheese n simmered it further. Absolutely delishus fish chowder I've just finished scoffing it as starter . Onto the lamb for main course 😋. I'm on carnivore diet at moment , just meat and fish , virtually no carbs .
Ps I'll probably use the leftover fish and bones that were in the sieve as groundbait for fishing or put them on garden ... good fertiliser.
